Paige Spiranac Backs Tiger Woods After DUI Arrest
Golf influencer Paige Spiranac voiced support for Tiger Woods following his DUI arrest after a rollover crash in Jupiter Island, Florida. Woods pleaded not guilty Tuesday and announced he is stepping away from golf to seek treatment for his health. Spiranac posted on X that fans are rooting for Woods as a person amid his challenges.
Woods faces charges of driving under the influence with property damage and refusal to submit to a blood alcohol test. Martin County Sheriff's deputies reported signs of impairment after the crash, including profuse sweating, lethargic movements and bloodshot eyes. An arrest affidavit states Woods admitted distraction from his phone and radio, and authorities found two hydrocodone pills in his pocket.
In his statement, the 15-time major champion said he understands the seriousness of his situation and needs time for recovery. Woods referenced prior injuries, including a 2021 rollover crash that caused serious leg damage and recent back and Achilles surgeries. This arrest marks his second DUI-related incident in a decade, following a 2017 case involving prescription medication.
Spiranac wrote: "I think we are all rooting for Tiger. Not as a golfer but more importantly as a person. None of us can fathom what he’s been through both emotionally and physically. Not excusing any behavior, but I hope he’s able to get the help he needs in peace without the whole world dog piling on him in a very difficult situation."
Woods recently returned to competition in The Golf League after surgeries. He will skip the Masters Tournament, as confirmed by Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley. Woods had entered the U.S. Senior Open scheduled for early July.
